DESCRIPTION
Two beautiful via ferratas in the Nuvolau Group in the Ampezzo Dolomites.
Starting from the Giau Pass the via ferrata that you meet first is the Ra Gusela. It is a very short via ferrata, just 174 m in altitude, but very panoramic and does not present any particular technical difficulties. The second, you need to get to the Rifugio Averau, it allows us to reach the summit of Cima Averau. This too does not present particular difficulties and is short, about 60 m. From the top of the Averau you have a 360° panorama of the Ampezzo Alps and beyond.
ITINERARY
From Passo Giau (2236 m) take path 443. At the first crossroads keep right and continue on 443. After a while on the left take the 438 which will take us first to the via ferrata Ra Gusela and then to the Rifugio Nuvolau (2575 m). Here we go down to the Rifugio Averau (2413 m) taking the 439. Now we follow the clear indications, the path is not numbered, for the Ferrata Averau. In 15 minutes we arrive at the attack of the via ferrata. We climb and arrive at the summit of Monte Averau (2649 m). We return to the Rifugio Averau along the same road. You return to Passo Giau following the 464 and 452.
