Cima Costazza from Rolle Pass

DESCRIPTION
With snowshoes in the Dolomites: the charm of Cima Costazza.

Geographical Location
Rolle Pass, at an altitude of 1,984 meters, is a picturesque Alpine pass located in the province of Trento. This natural crossing connects the enchanting valleys of Primiero and Val di Fiemme, offering unique landscapes. North of the historic Baita Segantini lies Cima Costazza, a modest yet captivating peak at the foot of the majestic Pale di San Martino, an unmistakable symbol of the Dolomites.

Hike
The hike to Cima Costazza offers a unique experience, ideal for hikers with moderate fitness. From Rolle Pass, a pleasant walk leads to Baita Segantini, while the subsequent climb to the summit requires more effort. The entire route is approximately 6 kilometers long, with a moderate elevation gain, making it perfect for a day outdoors.
It is essential, especially in winter, to consult the avalanche bulletin before embarking with snowshoes. Upon reaching Cima Costazza, the breathtaking natural spectacle makes every effort worthwhile: a panorama encompassing the peaks of Marmolada, Latemar, Lagorai, and the imposing Pale di San Martino, dominated by the elegant silhouette of Cimon della Pala.

History
The Capanna Cervino mountain hut was built in the 1930s by Alfredo Paluselli, a visionary mountain guide who chose this location to honor Cimon dela Pala, nicknamed the Matterhorn of the Dolomites for its unique beauty.
Baita Segantini, built in 1936, was Paluselli’s residence for the last 35 years of his life. This place, steeped in history and traditions, is now not only a must-see destination for mountain lovers but also a point of deep connection with the soul of the Dolomites.
